We’re entering one of the most magical days of Miami, and it starts with the Art Basel Miami Beach.

This year marks the twentieth anniversary of Art Basel Miami Beach, which means the annual art bacchanal is set to rule the season once more. Since its start in 2002, Art Basel has grown to be Miami’s most-awaited fall event and the top art fair in North America. You can attend this year’s exhibition from Thursday, December 1 through Saturday, December 3, but only by invitation. The media previews, VIP Vernissage, and VIP receptions will take place on Tuesday, November 29, and Wednesday, November 30. The Premium+ card, a new ticket level, is being introduced by Art Basel this year. The unrestricted four-day pass offers admission to the Wednesday Vernissage, two to-be-announced masterclasses, and an Art Nexus-led show tour.

Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth, Marian Goodman, Perrotin, Esther Schipper, and Thaddaeus Ropac are just a few of the well-known names that are making a comeback. However, they will be joined by establishments from Buenos Aires’ Rolf Art, Sao Paulo’s Paulo Kuczynski, and Madrid’s José de la Mano.

According to the press release from Art Basel’s global director Marc Spiegler, “It is wonderful to commemorate our 20-year presence in Miami Beach.” “Over the last 20 years, our show has not only solidified the region’s key role—uniquely linking the North and South American, European, and international art scenes—but also sparked the city’s significant cultural shift. Our display will be more full of discoveries than ever before due to the widening spectrum of galleries and artistic voices featured.”

New works by artists Tonia Nneji and Ishi Glinsky at Newcomers And Now and Ishi Glinsky stand out from this year’s Positions segment, which focuses on solo exhibits by young international artists.

In 2022, 11 galleries will participate in the Nova section of the festival, which highlights recent work by up to three artists. Yavuz Gallery will present Pinaree Sanpitak, while K Art will exhibit Edgar Heap of Birds with works by Erin Ggaadimitis, Ivalu Gingrich, and Robyn Tsinnajinnie.

The typical suspects of satellite fairs, such as NADA, Design-Miami, and Untitled, will also be present throughout the event’s run from November 29 to December 3.

The eagerly anticipated Paris premiere of Art Basel will also occur the following month. The Grand Palais Éphémère will host 156 galleries for Paris+ par Art Basel from October 20–23.
